Cumbernauld this weekend

27 swimmers had a very successful 2 days at the Cumbernauld Open Age Group and Senior Meet.  First medals of the day went to Gareth Allen who won bronze in the 50 back and Jenny Rogerson who won bronze in the 50 fly.  Gareth also won silver in the 100 fly, gold in the 50 free and gold in the 100 free.  Jenny also won gold in the 100 breast, silver in the 50 breast, and silver in the 100 fly.

All other swimmers did PBs in various events.  Nicola Allen came 4th in the 100 back and got into the final of the 50 back with a 3s PB and came 4th.  In the 100 free several swimmers had very impressive PBs – Sarah Loudon (7s), David Allison (9s), Fraser Allison (10s), Creag Doctor (5s).  Ella Shilliday got a 5s and 7s PB in the 50 breast and 100 breast respectively and Cara Smith had a 6s PB in 50 breast and 4s PB in 50 fly.  Ciaran Nelson got PBs in all events and all other swimmers got PBs in most of the events they swam in.

For many of the younger swimmers it was their first gala and they all swam extremely well with some very good PBs.  Very impressive too was the way in which the team supported each other.
