Stirling Swimmers success at Livingstone

Stirling Swimming though not winning the club trophy this year had a successful meet. In total 22 swimmers competed from Stirling Swimming.
Morven Bruce like last year had a superb meet, with 3 finals resulting in Gold for 100 Free, Silver for 100 Back and Bronze for 100 Fly the latter with a 5.69sec improvement to her PB.
Rebecca Brewster took silver in the 100 breast final.
Fraser Allison was seeded 4th for the 50 breast final after a strong prelim in which he took 4.70sec of his PB, in the final he further improved and took Silver in a time of 46.18sec with a total improvement of 5.62sec.
Sage Chittick had a superb meet with a final in the 50m fly, where he then took another second of his time to get a speeding ticket, a total improvement of 5.69sec
James Dodds improved his 100 freestyle with no less than 8.72sec to get a 4th place in the Final with a time of 1:11.33.
Eilidh Hargreaves left with 3 silver medals, in 100 fly, 100 breast and 100 free
In the 100 backstroke sisters Nikoline and Katrina Laidlaw battled it for Gold, with
Nikoline taking Gold in a time of 1.17.69 an improvement of 4.37sec
and Katrina Silver with 1.18.88 an improvement of 2.15sec.
Andrew Loudon took home a bronze in the 100 fly in a time of 1.08.97 a 2.23sec improvement and came 6th in the final for the 100 breast.
Douglas Ormiston came 6th in the final for 100 Fly and took nearly 4.98sec of his PB in the process
Catriona Rogerson swam some strong Prelims and was seeded 1st in two finals, 100 breast and 100 fly, however in the finals she was beaten to a 5th place in 100 breast and 6th place in 100 fly.
The day ended with the boys and girls relay, the boys team consisted of Sage Chittick, Andrew McCulloch, James Dodds and Andrew Loudon who came 4th.
The girls put in a strong performance to finish the day with a silver medal, the relay team consisted of
Emma Stirling, Sarah Hugget, Katrina Laidlaw and Morver Bruce.

Other strong performances of the day include Laura Gellatly who took 8.86 sec of her 100 back, 5.17sec of her 100 breast and 3.46sec of her 100 Free
and Ella Shilliday who took 4.45sec of her 50m fly.

Well done to all Stirling Swimmers.

Change in Training - Silver and Bronze A

We have now got additional pool time at Stirling High, so from next Tuesday April 29 there will be no more land training at Brayport

The schedule for Stirling High on a Tuesday is:

6-7pm Bronze A swim

6-6.45pm Silver A and B land (poolside)

7-8.30pm Silver A and B swim

Please be aware that there can be last minute cancellations as this happens from time to time with the school pools, so check website and if you are away check with fellow swimmers.

Grandprix Saturday Morning April 26

Please note the Grandprix is this Saturday in the Morning.

Warm up 7AM

Competition starts 7.30AM

Martin Cremin selected to represent GB in France

Martin Cremin has been selected together with 15 other youth swimmers to represent Great Britain at the French Open Water Cup.

Martin will compete on June 22.

Well done and good luck to Martin.

Grandprix Round 5 - This Saturday April 26

Please note Grandprix is this Saturday with warm-up at 7AM and competitions starts at 7.30AM.

Events are 400m freestyle and 200m IM.

We will need additional timekeepers so if you are able to help please let us know.

Comittee Meeting Minutes in bullet form

The committee has decided to publish the minutes from meetings in a bullet point form. The first is now available from the members area of the website. 5 APRIL 2008

Changes to Committee

Christine Cameron has resigned from the post of Promotions Officer, Christine has worked hard to raise the awareness of the club in the local community, unfortunately Christine is no longer able to continue in her role as committee member due to work pressure. We thank Christine for her contribution.

Anne Wilson has joined the committee in the role as Programming Officer, her main responsibilities are related to the arrangement of meets within the club and our Junior January Meet. Anne takes over from Stuart Ogg who has moved over to the position of Promotions Officer.

Stirling Success at Scottish Agegroup

Claire Wilson took Silver in the 200m backstroke 10-12 years agegroup and also became the Scottish National Agegroup Champion in an exciting final last night with Claire finishing on a time of 2:33.82.

This was followed by Stephanie Hanley who also took Silver in 15-16 years agegroup for her 200 backstroke.

Other medal winners are Katie McKenna for her 800 free, Stephanie Hanley for a bronze in the 100 backstroke and took the title Nationalk Agegroup Champion and in the 400m freestyle another bronze

It was great to see 3 Stirling swimmers on the podium together in the 16-18 years 200 freestyle, with Johnathan Greig taking gold, Richard Shaefer Silver and Ross Douglas Bronze

From the competitive squad we also saw

Johnathan Greig, 100 freestyle (Silver), 400 freestyle (Gold), 800 freestyle (Silver),

Ross Douglas, 1500 freestyle (Bronze), 400 freestyle (Bronze),

The 4 days of competing loads of finals with Stirling Swimmers and PBs across the board.

The senior boys relay team took an impressive gold in the 4*200m freestyle relay, (Richard Shaefer, Johnathan Greig, Ross Douglas, Martin Cremin)

The senior boys then took bronze in the 4*100 freestyle relay (Johnathan Greig, Ross Douglas, Martin Cremin, Andrew Loudon)

The Senior girls Relay team took Bronze in the 4*200m freestyle (Rosie Ogg, Jade Williams, Stephanie Hanley, Katie McKenna)

The Junior girls relay team just missed out, first in the 4*100m medley relay where they came 5th, then in the 4*200m freestyle where they came 4th and finally in the 4*100m relay where they again came 4th (Nicole Govan, Nikoline Laidlaw, Claire Wilson, Kayrine Kelly)

At the end of day 3 Stirling was 9th in the overall club competition, a superb performance by 15 swimmers from a small club.
