Jim Anderson brings home Gold, Silver and Bronze from European Championships in Reykjavik, Iceland

Scotland's Jim Anderson (Stirling Swimming) had the best possible start on Day 1 of the 2009 IPC Swimming European Championships, being held in Reykjavik, Iceland by winning the gold medal in the men's S2 50m Freestyle final.
Despite not enjoying the best of starts, Anderson's experience showed as he moved into the lead in the final 25m, securing his first gold medal in five years with a time of 1:09.24.
Following the medal ceremony, Anderson was clearly delighted, "I feel wonderful. I did not get a great start but I knew I just had to go for it and I managed to pull it back."

Day 2 of the 2009 IPC Swimming European Championships in Reykjavik Iceland saw Jim Anderson win his second medal of the event; a bronze in the men's S2 200m Freestyle final.
At the half way point Anderson was behind the field but showed a good back end to the race and he moved up to third place. Anderson won the bronze in 5:10.49.

Jim Anderson continued his contribution to the team's success and finished his European campaign in the men's S2 50m Backstroke, swimming to the silver medal in a time of 1:10.34. On his medal Anderson said: "I am really pleased to have won that. I was quite down after my performance last night but this has brought me right back up." (Jim is referring to finishing in fourth place in the men's S2 100m Freestyle in a time of 2:30.91)

In addition to his 3 individual medals, Jim Anderson put in another outstanding performance in the men's 20 point 4x50m Medley, which saw the British Gas team of Jim, Matthew Whorwood, Sascha Kindred and Anthony Stephens, win an impressive silver medal in 2:58.36.
