Request for meet announcer

To all members of Stirling Swimming

As you know there is the Stirling Autumn meet this Sunday and I am requesting for someone to volunteer to carry out the job of the announcer on the morning of the meet. This will involve announcing the warm up, the health and safety announcement, the commencement of the races, and which heat is about to happen. You do not have to commentate, although please feel free if you want to. If you can help out with this please contact me on programming@stirlingswimming.co.uk or see me or any of the committee at the Uni pool on Saturday morning.

Thanks once more.

New Gold Sponsor for Stirling Swimming Club

Dear All,
New Gold Sponsor for Stirling Swimming Club
Stirling Swimming is delighted to welcome Artemis as a new Gold sponsor for the club and headline sponsor of our Stirling Autumn Swim Meet taking place on Sunday, October 2nd at the Peak.  Details of our sponsor will be uploaded to the club website shortly.  On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank Artemis for their sponsorship and supporting our club.
Artemis The Profit Hunterwww.artemisonline.co.uk
Independent and owner-managed, Artemis opened for business in 1997. Its aim was outstanding investment performance and client service. All Artemis’ fund managers still share these two precepts — and the same flair and enthusiasm for fund management. Artemis is a leading UK fund manager, offering a range of funds within each of the main investment vehicles - Unit Trusts, an Investment Trust, a Venture Capital Trust (VCT), a Hedge Fund and a SICAV. Artemis is a dedicated active investment management house, specialising in investments and asset management for retail investors and segregated institutional investment management.

Cake Sale - £201.00 Raised

Dear All,
Many thanks for the wonderful home baking that arrived on Saturday morning.  The tables were creaking under the weight of the cakes and the variety of cakes on offer was amazing.  Overall we raised £201.00 – fantastic, the largest sum we have raised at a cake sale so far!  Thanks once again for your contributions and I hope you all enjoyed the Grand Prix.
Kind regards,
Janis Myles

Baking for Stirling Junior Autmn meet this weekend

Dear Parents, friends, and swimmers,

Another request I am afraid. Clive Ramsay has very kindly allowed us to provide cakes for the Officials and Coaches for their tea and lunch breaks this Sunday. I am asking parents if they would please consider volunteering to provide cakes or baking.  Any volunteers who wish to do so could you please email me on Programming@stirlingswimming.co.uk to let me know and I can collect this at the Uni on Saturday morning or just bring the baking to the Peak on Sunday morning if you wish.

Again, thank you to everyone for all your help to make this meet a success.

Timekeepers and Judges needed for Grand Prix on 24th September

Dear all at Stirling Swimming

As you may be aware the Grand Prix starts up next Saturday the 24th September 2011 and therefore I will have to make another request for volunteers to timekeep and judge. This is a necessary factor in running a successful Grand Prix and I would be most grateful if you could make yourselves available for this as you all have in the past.

The whole point of holding a Grand Prix is for swimmers to race with and against their peers in a competitive but relaxing and enjoyable environment. If your swimmer achieves a PB this will be entered into the club database and used for future entries to galas. This year we have the added spice of the swimmers being in teams to try and recreate the atmosphere of a gala, so the swimmers will be expected to cheer on their teammates. The teams will be published later on in the week so please look out for where your swimmer is and take note.

This first Grand Prix will consist of a 400 Freestyle swim for 13 years and over and 200 Free and 50 Fly for 12 yrs and under.

Please note the age group will be what age the swimmer is on at 30th June 2012.

If you wish to volunteer or have any questions please email me at programming@stirlingswimming.co.uk or catch me at the side of the Uni pool on Saturday morning or Sunday evening.

Kind regards

Cake Sale - Grand Prix, Saturday 24th September

Dear Swimmers, Parents and Guardians,
Cake Sale -  Saturday, 24th September (after the Grand Prix)
It is time once again to get the cake tins and flans dusted and buttered for our next cake sale.  The first Grand Prix of the winter season is round the corner and the swimmers love to know that after a very busy morning racing there are treats in store.  Once again, on behalf of the fund raising team, I am asking for contributions of home baking.  The previous cake sales have been such a success and the quality and array of baking has been fantastic. The cake stall will be set up from 07:30am in the pool foyer.  Thanks everyone and I look forward to seeing you next Saturday.
Happy Baking!
Kind regards,
Janis

SPONSORSHIP AND FUND RAISING FOR STIRLING SWIMMING CLUB - CAN YOU HELP?

Dear Parents/Guardians and Swimmers,

Over the past year, Stirling Swimming Club has been fortunate to secure sponsorship from Alere Technologies, Blair Drummond Safari Park and Camas Enterprises.  Alere Technology and Blair Drummond sponsored the Stirling Open meet held in January, and Camas Enterprises have sponsored the new yellow swim caps and polo shirts for the club technical officials, coaches and volunteers.

Every effort is made by the Sponsorship & Fund Raising team to secure new sponsorship but it proving very difficult in the current economic climate. Local companies have been approached with the view to purchase one of our sponsorship packs; Gold, Silver or Bronze, to support our upcoming Stirling Autumn Meet on 2nd October at the Peak but this has proved unsuccessful.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask parents/guardians for help in moving the sponsorship of our club forward.  It is important to bring in additional funds to supplement the growing costs the club is experiencing especially in relation to pool time.  I am asking for help to develop contacts or leads into companies. You may work for a company that would be open to receiving a request for sponsorship from an employee, or you may run a company and would welcome the opportunity to sponsor the club.  Any contacts, leads or direction you can offer me would be appreciated.

Stirling Swimming Club has 3 categories of sponsorship opportunities to download from the Fundraising and Sponsorship page on our club website www.stirlingswimming.co.uk :

  • Gold (Alere Technology and Camas Enterprises - £800.00 each)
  • Silver
  • Bronze (Blair Drummond Safari Park - £350.00)

Over the past 12 months, every effort has been made to raise Funds with the help of volunteers and yourself contributing. We have had delicious ‘Cake Sales’ at the Grand Prix’s, successful ‘Bag Packing’ at M&S, ‘tombola’s’ and ‘raffles’.  Every fund raising activity, however small, has contributed overall to the club and is very much appreciated.

I will be at the Annual General Meeting on Monday, 26th September and would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss any sponsorship or fund raising ideas you may have to help secure a strong financial future for the club.

In the meantime, if you are in a position to help the club with a possible sponsor for the Stirling Autumn meet or any general business leads you could share, I can be reached by email: janismyles@btopenworld.com or please telephone me on M: 07752 790960 to discuss further.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Janis Myles

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

For

STIRLING SWIMMING AUTUMN MEET

Sunday 2nd October 2011@ the Peak

Dear Parents, friends and older swimmers,

As we are about to run one of our Galas at the Peak we need your help to make this event to run smoothly.  Can you please see your way to volunteer to take up a role over the day, even if it's just for one or two hours?

If you are available could you put your name down to take on a role on the sheet on the board at the Uni and state whether you have a preference to what you will be doing and whether you will be available in the morning or afternoon or indeed all day (see roles below). I would ask though that if you wish to officiate please indicate which level you are at (timekeeper, judge 1 or 2, referee, etc) as well as which session or sessions you can do.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me either by email (programming@stirlingswimming.co.uk) or grab me whilst I am on poolside at the Uni on a Saturday morning.

May I remind you that these meets are vital in the running of the club from a financial sense as well as giving our own swimmers a chance to race competitively. Thank you in advance to everyone who is helping to make this day a success, we can't do this without all your help.

Roles I need volunteers for:

Swimming officials, timekeeper/judge – as many as possible

Selling programmes at the door – 2-3 people per session

Helping on tombola, bottle and raffle stall – 3 people per session

Trophies – 2 people per session

Runners – 2 people per session

People to supply drinks to officials on poolside – 2 people per session

Marshalls – 2-3 people per session

Meet and greet VIP's and Life members – 1 person per session

If you wish to help on the day and haven't put your name forward before hand, please don't hesitate to find me on the day.  Offer of help is always welcome.
