On day four of the British Championships/Olympic Trials, Todd Cooper broke his own British Record, which has stood for almost four years, during the heats of the 100m butterfly, and in doing so made the qualifying time for Beijing.

24-year old Cooper of Stirling Swimming was fastest qualifier, finishing in a time of 52.43 and will be one of three athletes chasing a top two finish to secure Olympic nomination for the event.

If he qualifies this morning he will join 8 other Scots to the Olympics including team mate Andrew Hunter who yesterday qualified for the 4*200m freestyle relay, the other are Kirsty Balfour, Kris Gilchrist, Gregor Tait (City of Edinburgh Swimming), Caitlin McClatchey (Loughborough University), Robbie Renwick, David Carry (City of Aberdeen Swim Team), Hannah Miley (Garioch).
